In his rookie season, Durant was selected as a member of the NBA's All-Rookie First Team and was named the NBA's "Rookie of the Year." After the 2007-08 season, the Seattle Super Sonics relocated the organization from Seattle, Washington to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, becoming the Oklahoma City Thunder. On July 4, 2016, Durant made big waves in the NBA when he announced that he had agreed to sign with the Golden State Warriors.
Durant continues to thrive with the franchise, having been named an NBA All-Star three times (2010-12) and to the All-NBA First Team three times (2010-12). "The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction," Durant wrote in a post on The Players' Tribune.
He also led the league three times as NBA scoring champion (2010-12), becoming only the eighth player in NBA history to do so. "But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth."The move proved to be a winning decision for Durant.
Durant has also played internationally, and was named 2010 FIBA World Championship MVP by the International Basketball Federation. In 2017, he helped lead the Warriors to the NBA finals, facing off again against Le Bron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
